A List Of Ten Superfoods That Can Keep You Healthy

YT8The word “Superfoods” is kind of a buzzword these days, and is has been for the past decade or so. Some people think that superfoods are great, while others think that they are just overhyped. Here are ten superfoods that are purported to have plenty of health benefits. Check it out.

One – Salmon. Could this be the king of fish? Salmon contains plenty of protein. Furthermore, the fat that is contained in salmon is known as Omega-3, which is a good, heart-healthy fat.

Two – Egg Whites. This is pretty much pure protein. As such, it is low in calories, and you can fulfil your obligations if you are following pretty much any specific “healthy diet” program.

Three – Pistachios. These are full of healthy unsaturated fat and compounds that lower bad cholesterol. Also, pistachios have the least number of calories compared to other nuts.

Four – Beans. I didn’t include this just because I am a hippy vegetarian. Apart from being a good source of protein, beans are low in fat and a good source of magnesium and potassium, which work together to lower blood pressure.

Five – Blueberries. Yum! Apart from being full of antioxidants, blueberries also contain flavonoids which aid memory function.

Six – Dark Chocolate. You might be surprised that this is included in the list. Truth be told, dark chocolate is rich in flavonoids and antioxidants that can lower blood pressure, improve blood flow, and boost heart health.

Seven – Pumpkin. Just from its colour, you can almost already tell that pumpkin is teeming with vitamins and minerals. Not only does it contain beta-carotene, it is also chock full of potassium, which is great for lowering blood pressure.

Eight – Spinach. There is a reason why Popeye is so strong. Spinach contains a lot of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. That’s why I almost always include it in my cooking.

Nine – Red Bell Peppers. Here’s another vegetable on the list. Not only do peppers have twice as much vitamin C as oranges, its form of Vitamin C may also help prevent arthritis or slow its progression.

Ten – Oats. No surprises there. Oats are known to be one of the healthiest breakfasts available if you are watching your cholesterol intake.

Don’t forget to load up on these superfoods. But more importantly, make sure your diet, in general, is healthy. You can learn how to master diet and nutrition with the Strategic Nutrition Guide, which is also available as part of the Granite Fitness Solution.
