Granite Fitness Wins Award On Feedspot

Hi all! While we do not like to toot our own horn, we are going to have a reflective post of appreciation today. As of 24 May 2018, Granite Fitness has been listed as part of the “Top 10 Australian Weight Loss Blogs And Websites In 2018” on social media blog watchdog Feedspot. This is cause for (minor) celebration, as it is a big deal for this small hobby blog to be included on a list which includes the blog of big name stars in the Australian fitness scene. It’s especially noteworthy because unlike the big stars, we only have a very small team of two.

So how did we get here? Well, in this self-reflective piece, we will go through a few “insider” things, and outline what we think made us recognised.

One: A Small Team Of Two

There might only be two of us, but our skills really complement one another. A writer and a promoter – a great combo! And of course, since this is a hobby blog, we don’t want to hire big teams. We prefer keeping it small.

Two: Good Quality Products And E-Books

When we first started, we had several products that we sold. We no longer focus our marketing on those that much, but their impact is still felt today. Want to know what they are? Go to the top of the page and hover over “Original Products”. The e-books, which have helped many people get in shape, include the Winning Psychology Manual, Strategic Nutrition Guide, Lifelong Fitness Blueprint, and Traveller’s Fitness Bible. Our most popular sale was the combination of all four books, and is also known as the Granite Fitness Masterclass. It’s on Clickbank.

Three: Excellent Affiliate Products

Affiliate products to those products that we recommend at the end of each blog post. We have always been open about them, and the fact that when our readers purchase them, we get a small commission to help us with the cost of keeping this blog up. The relevance here is that we do our research before recommending anything, because we realise that be promoting junk, our reputation goes down the drain as well.

Four: Diversification Of The Blog

We first started off focusing our attention on weight loss only. However, as time passed, there was only so much we could discuss about that. At the request of our growing fan base, we have moved into areas of health that are, frankly, not our expertise. We manage to do that by reaching out to others who do have expertise in the said areas. More details later.

Five: Diversification Of Operations

This blog and the fitness niche was only our starting point. After that we moved into other areas such as providing online services in areas like writing, SEO, and even run a series of online stores. You can check out our range of services in the navigation bar above. Our most popular one is Solutions4me. However, what that does is provide avenues to promote our blog, resulting in more engagement!

Six: Networking

We touched on this at the end of point four. While all you see on the blog are good articles, what you don’t see is what goes on behind the scenes. We spend countless hours reaching out to experts in specific topics and building relations with them, as well as other fitness bloggers in general. Each dynamic is different. So for example, we take lots of inspiration from “Girl With No Name/Hot At Home” without having communications with them. On the other hand, our relations with “Ripped Me” is so good that we often contribute to one another’s blogs.

Seven: Attitude To Our Fanbase

Our fanbase is everything to us. It is very difficult to calculate our reach, but we do have a few hundred fans on Facebook, about a thousand plus on Twitter, and a few hundred on our mailing list. Without you all, we would exist in a vacuum talking only to ourselves. That is why we always try to reply to your emails, comments and references to us on various fitness forums. We hope we have done this sufficiently, and look forward to doing more of this in future.

So there we have it – a series of factors we think have contributed to our award. We will continue to work hard and engage so that we do everyone justice. Once again, thanks to all of you for following our blog and engaging with us. We couldn’t have gotten this award without you. And thanks to Feedspot also for this privilege. We hope you keep on enjoying our posts.
