Natural Home Remedies For Weight Loss?

YT5

Here at Granite Fitness, we are usually wary, and even a bit sceptical when we come across articles that talk about how much better “superfoods” are compared to anything else. However, we still share the information with you as long as there is some explanation for their merit. As such, here is a list of ten “natural home remedies” that are purported to combat obesity.

1. Green Tea

Apparently, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition states that drinking just four cups of green tea daily can help burn off six pounds of fat within eight weeks. The reason given is that green tea contains epigallocatechin – 3 – gallate, or EGCG, which is full of antioxidants that can help boost your metabolism

2. Garlic

Garlic is known to reduce blood pressure – both systolic and diastolic. Apart from increasing the amount of good cholesterols for optimal triglyceride function, it is also good for cardiovascular health. Garlic is also known to inhibit the process of “adipogenesis”, which is the body’s way of producing fat cells.

3. Ginger Tea

Ginger is known to aid digestion. It can also increase the temperature of blood slightly, but enough to burn fat more easily. Ginger may also suppress the production of cortisol, which is a steroid hormone associated with stress and subsequent weight gain.

4. Lemon Water

We have often heard of lemon water as a detoxification agent. It works by increasing the enzymes that help to detoxify the liver. Apparently you can maximise its effects by using warm water.

5. Cinnamon

Much like ginger, cinnamon can increase body temperature enough to help burn fat. Including a teaspoon of ground cinnamon in your regular diet can stimulate metabolism.

6. Avocados

Many people wouldn’t even place avocados in this category as it contains fat itself. However, the fats in avocados are “good fats” that do not necessarily contribute to weight gain. It also contains fiber which can help keep hunger at bay. There are also many health and beauty-related benefits and can help combat aging, fungal and bacterial infections.

7. Tomatoes

Tomatoes contained a compound named 9 – oxo – ODA that helps to reduce lipids in blood. It also contains lycopene – a powerful antioxidant that is purported to combat wrinkle formation, fight cancer and reduce cholesterol levels. It is also an excellent source of nutrients like iron and potassium, and is known to be rich in vitamins A and C.

8. Cucumber

It is common knowledge that cucumbers are extremely low in calories, and are packed with minerals, dietary fibers and other vitamins. Furthermore, its rich vitamin content can also give you radiant and glowing skin.

9. Watermelon

Apart from being juicy, watermelon can help you feel fuller for a longer time. It has a rich amount of vitamins B1, B6 and C as well as a generous dose of potassium and magnesium.

10. Apples

We’ve all heard the saying that an apple a day keeps the doctor away. While it’s not as direct as this, apples are generally known to be good for your health. They contain a natural compound called pectin which is more difficult to digest, and can apparently also trap dietary cholesterol and fat content in the body.

So there we have it – ten “home remedy” superfoods. To be honest, Granite Fitness is still a bit sceptical of some of their claims. However, the items in this list are well known to be healthy, and so we encourage you to consume more of these food items.
