The “Fake It Till You Make It” Mantra Can Be Applied To Weight Loss

Have you heard the saying “fake it till you make it?” If you hadn’t, let me explain this philosophy to you in its most basic terms. This essentially is the idea that if you want to be something or in a particular state but aren’t there yet, you should get into the mindset as though you already are there, and the confidence boost that you get will affect your actions, which will subsequently get you there.

This mindset had worked for me personally in some areas more than others. A few years ago, I had the idea of wanting to help people lose weight and get fit. I manifested this idea in my mind and it pushed me to creating the Granite Fitness Solution, which was no easy feat. Fast forward a few years later and this had helped a number of people successfully lose weight.

Did I turn it into a full-time business? No. Because I later found other things that I was more passionate about. But the whole exercise of writing a few books, sourcing suppliers for physical products and researching health-related topics has resulted in this blog. And some of my previous customers think of me as an expert in the field, something which I don’t claim to be.

I didn’t mean for it to be this personal, but I was showing you an example of “fake it till you make it”. I’m proud of my success as a fitness motivator and had I chose to continue with it, I’d be in an even better position now. So I agree with this philosophy to a certain extent, as written in the Winning Psychology Manual. I’ve also used it in other areas of my life.

So how do you apply it to weight loss? Firstly, know that it is a confidence ball game. If you want to lose weight and be thin, you have to think and act like a thin person. That means that if people in public are staring at you while you are eating, ignore them and just mentally think that they are checking you out. It’s a confidence-boosting state of mind, even though it’s initially based on a fantasy.

Although this might seem like you’re living a lie, it’s actually not true. You are just preparing yourself for the position which you will eventually find yourself in. That’s why some actors are so successful – because they play the part and get lost in the moment. It goes hand-in-hand with the mantra that without a vision, you’d never get anywhere.

However, don’t fool yourself into thinking that all you need is the mind. If weight loss is your goal, it is vital that you couple this with a good plan that can work. This will take some work, and does involve altering your eating habits and activity levels. These tools are available in the form of digital books as part of the Granite Fitness Masterclass, which you must check out.

So, if you are not getting my drift yet, the mantra must be used in tandem with the proper tools that will get you to your destination. Think and act as though you are already fit, and that confidence boost will help you stick to the actions of your plan that you have devised based on knowledge from the Granite Fitness Masterclass. It will take time, but persistence pays off! I don’t have to dwell on it too much, as this stuff is written in the Winning Psychology Manual, which is also part of the Granite Fitness Masterclass.
