Let’s Talk About Your Goals

The weight loss journey is one which has a psychological element to it. That is why here at Granite Fitness we always emphasise getting one’s mindset right. Truth be told, this type of theory is not restricted to just weight loss. A lot of the principles apply to other goals too. Hopefully this article inspires you.

Firstly, let’s commence with a bit of raw honesty. While goals are a great tool for motivation, they can also be a source of frustration if you don’t use them correctly. Goals are only empowering if they are used properly. So how do you make a goal into something that is a benefit for you?  Goal-setting strategies are important especially for to help you create the type of success you desire and deserve. Here are five techniques to help you reach them.

One: Write Down What Your Goals Are

The first step is to identify them, then put pen to paper. You can also put copies of your goals on index cards and keep copies in the car and in the bathroom. Out of sight equals out of mind. Have them within site and you can review them regularly. Don’t just set goals and then ignore them. Your goals are like a compass to tell you which way to go. The exciting part is that you get to choose the alignment of your compass.

Two: Break Them Down Into Specific Actions

Goals are not items for your to do list only! If this were the case then we would all reach them without much effort. You need to plan specific actions that lead you towards those goals. Use the goals to provide your compass for those actions. When you plan actions for the day you can easily tell if they’re going to be effective if you have clear goals to compare them against. So remember to break them down into bite-sized pieces.

Three: Balance Them Out

Should you only have one goal? No! Have several. After all, there are many elements to your life, right? Ensure that amongst others, you also include personal development goals and personal finance goals. Don’t neglect any specific area. All of these goals are important so be clear about all of them and make them real for you. Of course, they should not compete and you should also prioritise.

Four: Share Some Of Your Goals

There is a common justification for sharing all your goals, with the typical sentence being “If you were an archer, would you keep it a secret that your goal is to hit the bull’s-eye?” Too many keep their goals a secret. Share your goals with people who will support and encourage your aims. On the other hand, some of your goals are better kept to yourself, although you will need to have a plan to keep yourself accountable, capische?

Five: Never Quit!

This is by far the most important thing. Your goals and the actions you take to get them are different things. Don’t be afraid to try something, fail and try something else. Take effective and massive action to meet your goals and understand that any true goals will take many steps to achieve. Sometimes you will make a misstep, but that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with the goal.

On the note of the last point, when you do find that it is beyond your reach, re-evaluate rather than quit completely. That is the type of thing that separates a success from a failure. If you try and fail, big deal! Plan it better next time and go for it. Of course, if your goal is health-related, the number one thing on your goals list should be to get the Granite Fitness Masterclass today. Do it!
