Six Habits That Can Help You Lose Weight
|If you have been following our blog for a while now, you will know the importance of psychology to weight loss success. In this industry, psychology is not always an arbitrary concept, but often combines with elements of diet and exercise, or manifests itself in habits. The list we are presenting today will certainly point you in the right direction for weight loss.
One: Limit Your Alcohol Intake
Although this might seem like a harsh way to start off a list, honesty is the best policy. Not only does alcohol contain empty and useless calories, it can even slow your metabolism down by depressing the central nervous system. Keep that in mind.
Two: Ommmmm
You might or might not know this, but stress can contribute to your body fat, in an indirect way of course. There is some evidence that practicing yoga can help to reduce stress, so try it if you think it may be your thing.
Three: Have Breakfast
Although there is no concrete evidence in this area, some studies have supported the idea that breakfast is important for successful weight loss. The reason for this is that sleep slows down one’s metabolism, but that can be kicked into gear by the body’s digestive processes.
Four: Get Enough Sleep
Researchers from the Chicago Medical Center found that people who get only four hours of sleep each night had difficulty processing carbohydrates. They concluded that when one is exhausted, his or her body would not have sufficient energy to perform its routine functions, one of which is burning calories effectively.
Five: Walk And Talk
This is not a difficult one. You probably know that people who are constantly in motion would burn more calories. These also include fidgety motions like crossing of legs, stretching and pacing. So make it a point to move around when you are chatting on the phone.
Six: Check Your Thyroid
You know how we always have a tendency to blame our failure to lose weight on genetics and slow metabolism, right? Well, some people actually do have a less active thyroid, which also results in a slower metabolism. If you suspect this, get it checked out. However, a slow thyroid wouldn’t be a problem 90% of the time. Yes, I said it!
