You Do Not Need The Gym To Stay In Shape

YT4

I’m going to start this post by being blunt – if you are big-sized and living in a western country, chances are that you probably experience some form of poor body image insecurity about your looks. Believe you me, I’ve been there before.

Now this does not mean that you are conscious of it all the time, but it does mean that there are times when you do feel vulnerable and judged. One of those times might be in an exercise-related setting such as the gym.

Yes, it’s true. Until you get to a certain state of mind, you’re stuck with the feeling that the gym is the domain of the fit people who have physiques that are elusive to a pleb like you. When you compare yourself to those hotbods and beefcakes, of course you will have an inferiority complex. The paranoia that they are judging and stereotyping you does not help.

In reality, most people in the gym are nice people who respect a big-sized person on his or her weight loss journey, However, they are often overshadowed by the minority of jerks. In saying this, I completely understand if it still does not convince you to go to the gym. After all, I was once at that point too. The gym is great and I love it, but not everyone feels the same way.

However, the good news is that you can get in shape without the gym. Think of our ancestors – they did not have access to the gym, but only a minority of them ended up overweight, right? Think about it – people go to the gym to work out, which means that as long as you can find some way to exercise, you would theoretically be achieving the same outcome as them.

If you are such a person, you can get your cardio workout by jogging, cycling, or swimming. Basically, anything that raises your heart rate for a period of time counts. And you can perform strength training with dumbbells and resistance bands. You can also perform bodyweight exercises, most of which are a hybrid of cardio and strength training.

All of the above are great, but there will be times when you are away, or the weather is bad, thus messing up your exercise plans. In reality you are better off getting resistance bands and a skipping rope to cover your cardio and strength training exercises.

Fortunately, Granite Fitness does offer resistance band sets that are fully customisable, with a skipping rope as a bonus. In fact, the Visual Workout Masterclass bonus manual teaches you how to use them, as well as how to plan a bodyweight workout.

So yes, do check them out. And if you truly want to know everything about losing weight and keeping it off in the long-term, definitely check out the Granite Fitness Solution. You don’t need to go to the gym to get fit. You just need to know the alternatives. Believe that!
